LOCS of Love - A Loom Knitting movement

IDEA!!! Mission: Occupy Craft Stores

Think of how impacting our loom knitting community could be if we all ban together to promote looming! That would be an amazing thing we could all do by going to our local Craft stores and bring some of our more unique items with looms to show to workers and passers by! It can just be you bringing your project bag at first. If it expands maybe they'll let some do their own demo table. Let's call it "Looms Occupy Craft Stores"! Or LOCS for short. LOL!!! LOCS of Love!

I could put together a video to promote it and even send mailers to people to pass out or email a PDF you could print and pass with a QR code to link to a video or my learning YouTube channel.

Let me know what you think!

Also PLEASE come request to join my Facebook closed type group mainly for loom knitters (open to needle & crochet, too!). We are on there 24/7 sharing ideas and helping each other. Here is the link. By the way it is a closed group to make our posts private to the rest of Facebook. It is also a safe zone there rated PG for my younger audience and friends. No bullying allowed. I hope you'll join us!

  1. Wonderful Idea, I am working on more InStores at my local JoAnn and hope to be spreading the looming word. At my last one, I had several people tell me, "I have these, I just don't know what to do with them."

  2. Sounds like a wonderful idea to me. I have a JoAnn's store and a local Quilting store here where I live.

  3. Please! I stalk people in the loom aisles of my local craft stores all the time! The first thing I tell them is about Goodknit kisses and the wonderful videos and facebook group we have. I would LOVE to have something to hand them so they can find it easier and remember the name. I'd be happy to help you design something (I'm a graphic designer / email marketing specialist for an ad agency)

  5. Good idea, I don't think many people really know how much you can do loom knitting. Showing various projects & stitches at craft stores probably would spark alot more interest.

  6. Most people have no idea how much you can do on a loom!! Every time I pull on out to demo at my work I get ohh yea I make scarves or hats... There jaw drops with they the x mas stockings, granny rounds, socks lace shawls, and fancy hats I make on the loom!!! I think it's a great idea, I can make sure I am demoing on the loom on that day :)

  7. Yes! I have been doing this for a coupe of months... people find it interesting and are curious how you can actually knit with looms and a pick. I have even set up demonstrations in a local craft store to show some of the cool things you can loom knit! The more people see this happening, the more loom knitting will catch on :)

I do the same. I finally printed a few pages (6 blocks to a page) of "YouTube loom knitting: Search GoodKnitKisses and mikeyssmail", and I have handed out most of them. I got tired of always writing it on note paper for people. lol Having some 'official' logo and info handout would be wonderful.

  9. I promote your you tube channel every chance I get. I also keep some pictures of what Ive made on my phone so I can show people what can be done on a loom whenever they ask me what I've been doing.

I've been looking into getting a loomknit class group for our condo building started. As well I've been thinking about asking our local Michael's store if they do demo's, if not I want to ask if I can start doing demos with the basics first.

Send me a copy of the handout as well please.

  11. Awesome, the last couple of times I've gone to the VA with hubby, I've had a couple ladies come up and ask what I was doing, had been trying to think how I could "get the word out" promote Loom knitting, GKK, and the yahoo groups.
    I'm in!

  12. As someone very new to looming, I know I'd welcome a class or two of various skill levels! I haven't even completed one project yet, but I'd be happy to pass along whatever materials you'd like to send!

  13. I would LOVE to join the LoomKnitClub. Just as Mikey got me excited about crochet again, you've done the same with loom knitting! I totally get it when you explain it!
